Phillip Lyons, professor of criminal justice, was interviewed by the Bryan-College Station Eagle in a story discussing the statewide increase in the use of tasers by police departments.
Donald Freeman, chair and professor of economics and international business, was quoted in a number of media outlets, including the LA Times, New York Times and Washington Post, regarding his 1998 study, titled "Beer and the business cycle," that examined sales from 1955 to 1994. In it, he says that economic problems have no effect on alcohol sales.
Larry Hoover, professor of criminal justice, was interviewed by Houston Channel 11 for a two-part series on the Houston Police Department's Crime Response Unit. Hoover said such blanket enforcement tactics can reduce crime by 20 percent, but there is a danger of overzealous policing infringing on constitutional rights.
